Contractor SEO: what should actually happen in the first 90 days.
The first three months should create a better foundation, useful production and a clear record of what changed. They should not be sold as a countdown to “page one.” The right result at day 90 may even be that the business should downgrade, change direction or stop.
Establish the truth before changing everything
Review the Business Profile, Search Console where available, important service/market pages, reviews, business information, existing rankings/signals and the measurement setup. The point is to understand the current system before creating activity.
Fix the highest-value foundation problem first
That might be incomplete Business Profile information, weak service coverage, indexability/canonical problems, poor internal linking, an inconsistent review process, or a website too weak to convert the opportunity.
Use recurring production on real opportunity
Once the foundation is under control, the next month of work should be explainable: a high-value service page, meaningful market page, Business Profile work, review/reputation process, internal-link improvements or another verified gap.
Measure work separately from outcome
Record what shipped. Then observe search signals such as impressions/clicks/profile actions. Then attribute real inquiries where supportable. Do not turn a rank increase into a revenue claim.
Ask the uncomfortable day-90 question
Is there enough valuable work left to justify the same retainer? If the answer is no, the honest move may be to downgrade or stop. A permanent retainer is not the objective; better acquisition is.
Do not ignore downstream leaks
If improved visibility sends more visitors to a weak site, or if new inquiries are mishandled, SEO alone will not fix the whole acquisition system. That is exactly why Sileon diagnoses the larger path.
The first 90 days should make the next decision easier.
By day 90, you should know what was fixed, what new work was produced, what search signals moved, what inquiries can be attributed, and whether there is enough valuable opportunity left to justify the same level of recurring work.
